What is One Million Rising?

Indivisible’s One Million Rising initiative is a nationwide effort to grow a powerful, coordinated grassroots movement capable of defending democracy, protecting our communities, and driving meaningful change. The goal is simple but ambitious: mobilize one million people into sustained local action — not just moments of protest, but ongoing civic engagement rooted in nonviolence, solidarity, and shared values.

How local groups make it real

Local “Rising” groups are where this movement comes to life. These groups organize community members into regular, values-aligned action — from civic engagement and mutual aid to advocacy and public education. Each group adapts to local needs while contributing to a broader national strategy. By building relationships, developing leadership, and showing up consistently, Rising groups transform concern into collective power.
