Deadline To Mail Ballots

Don’t confuse “mailed” with “received.”

Your ballot must be received by election officials by 8:00 p.m. on Election Day. A postmark is not enough.

Montana currently advises voters returning ballots by mail to mail them at least one week before Election Day. If Election Day is approaching, use an authorized ballot-return option instead of risking a late mail delivery.

Then check your ballot.

Returning your ballot isn’t quite the final step. Track it.

Use Montana’s My Voter Portal to check whether your ballot has been received and whether there is a problem that needs your attention.

Think: SEND IT → TRACK IT → CONFIRM IT
