Volunteer Opportunities

🦺 Safety Marshals ✔️ Monitor crowd safety ✔️ Watch for and report potential hazards ✔️ Be a resource for and support of other volunteers ✔️ Communicate with the safety team

🪧 Crowd Guide ✔️ Help with movement along the route ✔️ Answer questions and direct attendees ✔️Hand out materials ✔️ Watch for and report potential hazards

📸 Filmers & Photographers ✔️ Circulate through the crowd, capturing images and videos of resistance and joy ✔️ Watch for and document safety concerns or escalations ✔️ Watch for and document potential hazards or threats

🩺 Medics + Medic Aides (trained + experienced first responders)  ✔️ Provide medical and wellness care to protesters and demonstrators within the scope of your training and expertise ✔️ If needed, contact and coordinate emergency services ✔️ Communicate with the safety team ✔️ Medic Aides support the medics be helping to manage the crowd, placing calls, documenting information, or anything else the Medic needs help with 😷 Please provide your own medic supplies

🧘 De-Escalators (trained + experienced) ✔️ De-escalate confrontations ✔️ Provide leadership and direction to protestors to de-escalate potentially dangerous or threatening scenarios ✔️ Communicate with the safety team

🎵 Sing-Along Leaders ✔️ Lead attendees in song, teaching the song if needed ✔️ Inspire unity, convey messages of resistance

🎒 Organizing Helper ✔️ Help prep supplies in the days leading up to the event ✔️ Help set up and run “base camp” during the protest ✔️ Help check in and check out volunteers; manage their equipment ✔️ Support other organizing needs as they arise and you have capacity

ALL VOLUNTEERS

  • Will be assigned to and work in pairs

  • Are required to complete pre-event training; safety team volunteers have additional in-person training requirements

  • Are responsible for supporting a peaceful and organized protest

  • Must commit to nonviolence and no weapons of any kind
